A violent long weekend in Toronto

Bullets and blades spilled lots of blood across the city in recent days.

Between Thursday afternoon and Monday night, when the long weekend came to a close, two men were killed and at least 11 were wounded in shootings and stabbings.

Of those victims, eight were injured and one was killed as bullets flew in Little Italy, in Little Jamaica, near Yonge-Dundas Square, during a fitness class in Christie Pits Park and into vehicles.

Three victims were seriously hurt and one killed in three separate knife attacks that unfolded on CNE grounds, in the Village and in a residential Scarborough neighbourhood.

•THURSDAY:

4:45 p.m. — Two gunmen open fire wounding a man near Eglinton Ave. W. and Oakwood Ave., but the victim fled and has yet to be found.

10:15 p.m. — Kevaughn Morgan, 21, was ambushed and killed by a gunman near Lawrence Ave. E. and Brimley Rd.

•FRIDAY:

9 p.m. — Stephen Russell, 58, was stabbed to death at a rooming house near Church and Charles Sts.

•SATURDAY

1:30 a.m. — A boy, 15, allegedly pepper-sprayed two teens, 16 and 17, before robbing them at gunpoint near York Mills Rd. and Fenside Dr.

9 a.m. — A gunman opened fire during a fitness class in Christie Pits Park, near Bloor and Christie Sts., wounding instructor Alejandro Jose Vivar, 35, and a second person.

8:25 p.m. — Two men in their 20s were hurt in a stabbing on CNE grounds near Princes Blvd. and Newfoundland Rd.

•SUNDAY

1:20 a.m. — Two men, 21 and 24, were hurt when gunfire erupted near Yonge and Dundas Sts.

4:30 p.m. — A man, 22, suffered serious injuries when his car was riddled with bullets near Danforth and Pharmacy Aves.

•MONDAY

3:30 a.m. — A man, 30, survived a gunshot wound to his chest when dozens of gunshots rang out near Bathurst and College Sts.

6:30 p.m. — A gunman fired at a car, near Lawrence Ave. E. and Railside Rd., narrowly missing two young men inside.
